Isabella is the eldest daughter and child of the wealthy clothes merchant Edmund Hastonbury. Edmund Hastonbury's main source of business and income comes from the garish Tudor court. He makes and tailors clothes for the masques, servant liveries and even sometimes clothes for the courtiers themselves. Hence why Isabella is so well dressed. It also explains why Edmund lives mostly in London.
While Edmund spent most of his time in London, Isabella grew up in the village of Northleach with her Mother Anne and soon her siblings ; Joan and Alice. In her husband's absence, Anne Hastonbury became a close companion to the Earl of Northleach's wife and as a result the children were playmates and eventually were taught by the same tutors. The two families still remain very close.
Because of her fathers involvement at court and Isabella's beauty and grace, it was only a matter of time before Isabella was being encouraged to go to court. She was noticed by Henry Norris when visited Edmund's london store and suggested she should go to court under his protection and guidance. Her mother refused but her father, every ambitious, suggested that she should take up the offer and gave his blessing. Isabella was summoned to court the next day to be a present and lady-in-waiting to Norris' friend and queen; lady Anne Boleyn.
