It is weird to call it a rule but ... I have to explain myself. I need an enough active Anne Boleyn who knows, can study history of England and is able to plan actions with me. I am tired, I cannot be the only one who thinks of the actions. I need help, so my Queens will be persons able to help me.

I agree with you; i think characters such as Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell are far too important to be played by people who just come and go, and base the entirety of their knowledge concerning these characters on what they see in the series alone. I was actually thinking of introducing a system whereby new members (in other words, people who the admins are not familiar with, and therefore not familiar with their writing style) will have to prove they can play that character, showing evidence of posts they made as them on previous RPG sites. What do you guys think?

I think that's a good idea Reg. I know a lot of RPG sites require people to show proof of their writing capabilities before they are allowed to take a character for that reason. I think it's especially important with major characters, as you mentioned.

I've seen that as well Katie, though they normally apply these methods to all prospective members, i think it would only be necessary for characters like Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn - particularly the six wives anyway. Minor characters like Mary Boleyn or Francis Bryan, and even fictional characters like Ursual Misseldon, wouldn't really require a lot of knowledge, since there isn't even a great deal known about them.

I completely agree. I just don't know how this system can work, but I'm sure we can find a way. Great idea! Those charachthers who are really important to examine are the 6 wives, Thomas More, and maybe Cranmer.

Basically, in the case of someone new, someone we don't know, registering as Anne Boleyn, they would be required to post a sample of their writing skills, so we can see how they play this particular character. I really am not up for having NPC characters floating around here (which are Necessary Played Characters that only come to fulfill their duties at particular times, and we don't hear from them again until the next time they're needed) and i especially don't want an Anne Boleyn being reduced to a so-called 'plain Jane' either; Anne was anything but plain!

Those charachthers who are really important to examine are the 6 wives, Thomas More, and maybe Cranmer. Those men who were of great importance to the King anyway, and perhaps Princess Mary too - i'd definitely categorize Thomas More, Thomas Cranmer and Thomas Cromwell among those men, perhaps Edward Seymour as well, and maybe Thomas Howard.

I absolutely agree with you, Henry and Mark. That is the reason why I wanted to ask you if I can take Katharine of Aragon. I know that I won't be on a lot in the next two or three weeks, but if you can wait, considering that, during the period we are roleplaying in, KoA is not very present (I'd reply to the posts at least once a day, however)... As for the knowledge, I'm writing a novel about her, so, I think I know her quite well!

Do we get assigned parts according to what you need?

I agree with Mark! I have no complaint if you, Mary, want to play KoA. As you said, she isn't very present and we know you and we know that you haven't the time yet. So, if no one else has a problem with that...?

Do we get assigned parts according to what you need? No, its purely up to you how and when you want to set your 'audition' posts.
